Helen raises over £5,200 for Zest after completing London Marathon 2022
Zest Young Adult Care and Transition Lead, Helen Finlinson (pictured left alongside her friend Hannah Woodruffe) has raised £5,286 the young adult charity after completing this year’s London Marathon on 2nd October.
Part of the St Elizabeth Hospice Group, since 2015, Zest has provided specialist medical and social support services to young adults, aged 14 and upwards, living with progressive and life-limiting illnesses, while also ensuring the smooth transition from children’s hospice into adult care.
Helen, who has worked at St Elizabeth Hospice for more than 15 years, was a driving force behind the creation of Zest which helps meet a previously unmet need in Suffolk, and she completed the marathon, smashing her fundraising target of £3,000.
“Running the London Marathon for Zest is a day I will never forget,” said Helen, Head of Inclusion & Development at St Elizabeth Hospice a role which sees her lead on the Zest programme.
“It was undeniably tough, but crossing that finish line was the best feeling. I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of support.
“It meant so much in particular knowing the community where I live were holding a marathon fundraiser event, tracking us and watching the event on the big screen, cheering us on from Suffolk. A huge thank you to everyone!”
Co-produced with the families and young adults who use its service, Zest provides specialist medical and social support services to the young adults under its care.
From its unique Short Breaks, which allows young adults to escape their daily routine, through to parent support groups and X-Change evening social groups, Zest allows young people to enjoy life to the full and fulfil their aspirations
