Harli Raises Over £16,800 for Hospice in Memory of Mum

27 July 2024

Ten-year-old, Harli Dixon, has raised over £16,800 for St Elizabeth Hospice in memory of her Mum, Jemma Chatten, who received support from the independent charity until her death in July 2022, aged 34-years-old.

Harli raised this brilliant sum by hosting a Dinner & Dance at Seckford Hall on 26th July – marking two years since Jemma’s death from cancer.

The evening saw over 130 people attend to support Harli and her fundraising. Attendees enjoyed a special dinner and dance, with music provided by MJ Soul, as well as a raffle featuring a wide range of prizes including a signed Terry Butcher England football shirt and a weekend away in Ibiza.

With donations still coming in, Harli has already smashed her £10,000 target, with all money going towards supporting St Elizabeth Hospice’s vital services, as well as contributing to funding a leaf in Jemma’s memory, on the hospice’s Memory Tree.

“This evening has gone better than I ever thought it would,” said Harli, who lives near Woodbridge.

“Thank you to everybody who has helped me with my fundraising. I am so pleased to be able to support St Elizabeth Hospice, as it is a cause very close to my heart.

“I hope this money helps the hospice support other people, just like the hospice looked after my Mummy.”

In 2023, Harli also raised £2,500 for the hospice by taking part in the charity’s flagship fundraiser, the Midnight Walk, with funds raised going towards to St Elizabeth Hospice, which every year delivers specialist palliative care to more than 4,000 people living with a progressive or life-limiting illness, and their families, throughout East & Mid Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney.

Rob Dixon, Harli’s Dad, said: “I am so, so proud of Harli for what she has managed to achieve. She continues to amaze us with her dedication and determination to support this wonderful charity.

“I had no idea we would raise this fantastic amount of money for the hospice. I am absolutely blown away by the generosity people have shown and we are extremely grateful to everyone who has made this evening possible.

“We can never thank St Elizabeth Hospice enough for the support they gave Jemma and Harli. We will continue to support the charity going forward and hope the money raised will help others who are under the care of the hospice.”

Judi Newman, Chief Executive Officer at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “On behalf of the whole hospice, I want to say a big thank you and well done to Harli for her fantastic fundraising in memory of her mummy.

“It is a remarkable achievement and she should be very proud herself. The fundraising Dinner & Dance was so lovely to attend and we are extremely grateful to everyone who supported the night.

“Every penny raised by Harli, will make a big difference to patients and families under our care throughout East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth & Waveney.”
