Hairstylist Raises Over £350 for Hospice

01 February 2023

More than £350 has been raised for St Elizabeth Hospice by LynneTheHairStylist following a Christmas raffle, hosted by the Ipswich hairstylist.

A passionate fundraiser for a number of years, Lynne English, who owns LynneTheHairStylist, has previously raised funds for St Elizabeth Hospice and Cancer Research UK by running several marathons.

Part of Lynne’s inspiration for supporting St Elizabeth Hospice comes from her own experience of the independent Suffolk charity, and its services, which cared for her Mum, Trisha, before she passed away in 2018.

Held over the Christmas period, Lynne’s fundraising raffle at the salon in Belstead Road, Ipswich, raised an amazing £358, which has all been donated to the hospice. The raffle featured a range of prizes, including up to £50 gift vouchers off all hair and beauty treatments, a product goodie hamper, all of which were greatly supported by clients, family, and friends.

Lynne said: “Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket for the raffle and congratulations to all the prize winners. A special thank you goes to Evie Route (pictured with Lynne and her mum Hannah) who had only last month donated 30cm of her hair to the Little Princess Trust, that gives real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer. Well done Evie!

“To raise this amount of money during the current economic climate is brilliant and I am so grateful to everyone who took part and supported the raffle which has raised vital funds for the hospice and its work in our local community.”

Every year St Elizabeth Hospice delivers specialist palliative care to more than 3,000 people living with a progressive or life-limiting illness, and their families, throughout East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney.

Annually this service costs £12.9 million to deliver, with 70% of these funds being generated by the local community’s support of the hospice’s income streams such as retail shops, events, gifts in Wills as well individual fundraising activity, such as people like Lynne.

Liz Baldwin, Corporate and Sponsorship Fundraising Manager, said: “A massive well done and thank you to Lynne for supporting the hospice and raising such a brilliant amount for the charity.

“Every penny raised will make a difference to our services, as we continue to expand our care to support more patients and their families throughout East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney.”
