Get on your bike for your local Hospice

04 March 2015

Have you been inspired by the launch of ‘Suffolk’s Year of Cycling’? Then why not get on your bike and pedal for a purpose supporting your local Hospice?

If you’re looking for an event to kick start your cycling – or even if you’re already a keen cyclist and enjoy a challenge – St Elizabeth Hospice’s inaugural Suffolk Sportive is for you.

The Suffolk Sportive starts and finishes at Alton Water on Sunday 26th April and all routes will take you around the beautiful countryside, giving you the perfect opportunity to get out and see rural, scenic Suffolk.

The event is suitable for cyclists of all abilities and there are four routes you can choose from: the more challenging 40 or 80 mile routes; a shorter 10 mile family ride; or an off-road route round Alton Water.

All the money raised from this event will go towards improving life for people living with a progressive illness in East Suffolk and South Norfolk.

Joanne Rodger, St Elizabeth Hospice’s Events and Challenges Fundraiser, said: “The launch of Suffolk’s Year of Cycling will hopefully encourage more people – men and women, young and old – to get on their bikes and start enjoying cycling , whether it’s commuting to work or school, or simply getting out and seeing Suffolk.

“We have a lot of cycling events in our calendar, including our Suffolk Sportive, which are ideal for people wanting to increase their fitness and get out and enjoy the fresh air, whilst supporting their local Hospice.

“All funds raised through our events help us continue to provide our vital services, care and support to over 2,000 patients and their families every year.”

Registration for the Suffolk Sportive is £30 for the 40 and 80 mile routes and £12 for the shorter routes and includes a medal, electronic chip timing and a certificate of completion.

If you’re looking for more of a challenge then why not join 100 other supporters and pedal to Paris with the Hospice Team 100. 300 miles, over five days, helping to raise a total of £100,000 for St Elizabeth Hospice – you could be part of this fantastic challenge of a lifetime, doing something amazing for a great cause.
