Fundraising endurance challenge in memory of father-in-law

Tommy Williams-Green is completing four miles, every four hours for 48 hours in aid of St Elizabeth Hospice and The Pear Tree Fund, who supported his father-in-law Clive Roose, who lived in Halesworth, before his death in April 2022.

Tommy, a 28-year-old serving in the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers, will take on his endurance challenge on 6th July at MOD Lyneham and is raisings funds for the two organisations who provided support to both his father-in-law and mother-in-law before Clive’s passing from bowel cancer in April this year.

“He was such a great man, husband, father, grandad and the best father-in-law,” explained Tommy, who is from Wiltshire, “Clive received his diagnosis in mid-February, and with the care and support of The Pear Tree Fund and St Elizabeth Hospice, my mother-in-law, Chris, was able to look after Clive at home which was very important to him.

“Clive wanted to receive support at home so he could be with Chris, his children and grandchildren, until he peacefully passed away, and the hospice and The Pear Tree Fund made this possible. Through completing this challenge I will be showing our gratitude for the brilliant work they do in the local community.”

Based in Halesworth, The Pear Tree Fund offers vital information, advice and holistic support to people with life-changing illnesses or long-term conditions, and families and carers throughout East Suffolk, Mid Suffolk and South Norfolk.

While St Elizabeth Hospice, alongside partners East Coast Community Healthcare (ECCH), provides free specialist palliative care to patients and their families in Great Yarmouth and Waveney.
