Football match scores for St Elizabeth Hospice

Thank you to Gary Keeble who recently organised a charity football match in support of St Elizabeth Hospice.

The match at Whitton Sports Centre on Sunday 26 August was organised in memory of his parents, Betty and Colin who sadly both lost their battles with cancer in 2017.

Betty Keeble passed away on 4 February 2017 after being diagnosed with cancer in August the previous year. During her illness Betty had regular contact with a hospice nurse, who also reached out to the family and really helped during a difficult time answering any questions and offering support.

Betty’s final days were spent at St Elizabeth Hospice and all of her family found peace knowing she was in such a wonderful place, with caring and attentive staff.

Colin Keeble, Betty’s husband requested all donations from her funeral go to the hospice and was happy to donate a number of Betty’s collections to support the charity.

Sadly just a few months later on 23 April 2017 Colin also lost his life to cancer after a short stay at the Ipswich Hospital, he never made it to the hospice but we know he would want to continue to support such a worthwhile charity.

Gary Keeble said: “Anyone who met Colin knew of his love for the great game and how passionate he was about football.

“Colin donated many hours to various clubs and was always happy to help out, so a match in his and Betty’s honour seemed a fitting way to raise money for a charity that touched both their hearts, as well as the rest of their family.”

The charity game raised a fantastic £599.12.
