First ever Zumbathon raises £1,000 for Hospice
Around 90 women wiggled their way to raise money at St Elizabeth Hospice’s first ever Zumbathon.
Participants paid £10 to take part in the three hour event at the Copleston Centre, Ipswich, on Sunday 15th January.
The event was hailed a success and raised around £1,000 for the Hospice.
We are grateful for the support of all those who took part and Zumba instructors Stef O’ Hara, Kerrie Webster and Kay Fletcher who led the sessions.
Event organiser Emily Sullivan said: “The Zumbathon was a great success and everyone who took part thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was a great fun way of raising money for the hospice. We would like to thank everyone who supported it including the instructors who gave up their time. All of them have really helped make a difference to our patients and their families.”
All money raised will help the hospice, an independent charity which costs £13 a minute to run, to continue to provide services for its patients and their families free of charge.
The hospice relies on the generosity of local people and businesses as well as fundraising events such as the Zumbathon to meet the majority of its running costs. The Hospice’s next events include the Walk of Thoughts on March 4 and the Great Xscape, for adventurous supporters, on April 14 in East Suffolk and on April 21 in Waveney.
