Ed Sheeran super fans raise funds as birthday present to star
An international group of Ed Sheeran fans, known as the ‘Sherrios’, have set up a birthday fundraiser in Ed’s honour through Just Giving, with the target of raising £4,000 for St Elizabeth Hospice. The pop star will turn 28 on the 17 February and it’s hoped the fundraiser will reach its target by then. It’s already a quarter of the way there – smashing through the £1,000 mark.
If you’d like to make a one-off donation to this fund, you can do so here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sheerios
The fundraising initiative has been set up by Brandy, from Detroit, Corine, from the Netherlands, and Marie, from Canada, and is quickly drawing in donations from all over the world. In November we successfully raised £50,000 by auctioning a selection of personal items donated to the hospice by Ed Sheeran, which inspired the fans to set up this fundraiser.
Beth Condie, Community Fundraising Manager from St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “We’re really impressed that these Ed Sheeran fans have taken it upon themselves to do this. It’s fantastic for St Elizabeth Hospice and we’ve been fortunate to have had Ed’s support in the past for Zest; an initiative of ours which supports care for young adults with palliative care needs in Suffolk.
“£4,000 is a really impressive target which would fund several hours of nursing and support for the hundreds of young adults across Suffolk who are living with a progressive or terminal illness, and who benefit from our support. We’re hugely grateful to Brandy, Corine and Marie for thinking of us and for setting up this fundraising initiative on behalf of the hospice.”
