Day Services Manager opens new St Elizabeth Hospice shop in Southwold
A St Elizabeth Hospice Day Services Manager has officially opened the charity’s exciting new shop in Southwold, and the Hospice is now appealing for local people to support it by volunteering, donating second-hand goods or shopping in it!
Helen Finlinson, who jointly manages all the Hospice’s day services for patients living with a progressive illness, cut the ribbon at 11am on Friday 13th September at the new shop at 76 High Street.
All funds raised from the shop will help provide St Elizabeth Hospice care free of charge for local people in Waveney, East Suffolk and South Norfolk, including those in the Southwold area.
Mrs Finlinson said “St Elizabeth Hospice is investing £2.2m over three years in its services in Waveney and Great Yarmouth and people in Southwold are benefiting from our specialist care and support.
“All the money raised from our shops helps us provide our services free of charge and we hope the Southwold community will support their new Hospice shop as much as possible. By supporting it they will be supporting local Hospice care for people in their community.”
St Elizabeth Hospice has a wide range of local services up and running in Waveney and Great Yarmouth including day care at Beccles, Gorleston and Ditchingham near Bungay, and inpatient beds.
It also provides support for families, therapies, counselling and a 24-hour specialist advice phoneline called OneCall.
If you would like to donate stock to the shop – such as second-hand clothes, books and bric-a-brac – please drop it off between 9.30am-4.30pm.

St Elizabeth Hospice costs £9.1m a year to run and relies on the income generated from its shops as well as fundraising events and donations to meet around three quarters of these costs.
The Southwold shop is the Hospice’s 24th to open, and forms part of a retail expansion to generate vital income to help grow local Hospice care for local people. More shops are due to open this year in Wickham Market and on Bramford Road in Ipswich.
St Elizabeth Hospice recently opened shops in Halesworth, Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth, Harleston, Beccles and Bungay, and they are well supported by local people.
