Dates set for Ed Sheeran’s clothing sale
Update – online Ed Sheeran clothing auction has now ended.
St Elizabeth Hospice has put its sought-after Ed Sheeran collection of donated clothes – including some worn with American singer Taylor Swift – on sale this week.
The 100-piece collection – including hoodies, T-shirts, shoes, hats and jeans – will be available in the Hospice’s Framlingham shop and is being auctioned online.
Shop sale
On Saturday 5th April, the St Elizabeth Hospice shop in Framlingham held a special sale of clothes and shoes donated by Ed Sheeran.
The sale started at 10am, with eager fans waiting from 8am for the chance to own a unique piece of Ed Sheeran memorabilia.
Over £1,000 was raised in the first hour of the goods going on sale, with the first purchase of the day being made by Georgia Sprong, 15, of Woodbridge, who bought one of Ed’s sweatshirts for £85.
She said: “I am an Ed fan, and it is so cool to have something he has worn. I think it’s great that he donated to such a good local cause.
Shop manager Rachail Pollard said: “The response to the sale has been great. We’ve been taking lots of calls from America, where Ed is huge. It has been an exciting week for all of us, and I would like to thank all the volunteers, customers and shop staff, and of course Ed and his family, for all their support”.
Items not sold in the sale on Saturday will be available in the shop for the next week.
Last week worldwide Twitter interest was sparked when Ed’s mum Imogen, who lives in Framlingham, dropped off eight bags of the singer’s clothes to the Hospice’s shop.
Fans in the UK and abroad have been eager for more details.
Hospice retail staff have been sorting and pricing the clothes and have since found some items worn in videos, with Taylor Swift and on TV appearances.
The Sheeran family have long supported St Elizabeth Hospice and hoped the donation would raise a significant amount of money for local Hospice care for local people.
Rachail Pollard, shop manager, said: “We are extremely grateful to Ed Sheeran and his family for this donation to their local shop. There has been a lot of interest in Suffolk and worldwide so we have tried to ensure all those interested are catered for.
“We are hopeful Ed’s collection will raise a significant amount of money to help the Hospice improve life for people living with a progressive illness in East Suffolk and South Norfolk.”
The Hospice costs £9.1 million a year to run and relies on donations, fundraising, gifts in Wills and support for its shops to fund the majority of these costs.
