Christmas Day Dip Raises Over £40,000

26 January 2023

More than £40,000 has been raised for St Elizabeth Hospice thanks to hundreds of ‘dippers’ who took part in the charity’s annual Christmas Day Dip in 2022.

Held opposite Mannings Amusement, on Felixstowe seafront, the event saw over 500 supporters don a range of fancy dress and Christmas themed outfits before plunging into the icy cold sea at Felixstowe beach to raise funds, through sponsorship, for St Elizabeth Hospice which every year delivers free care to over 3,000 patients and their families throughout East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney.

As well as raising funds through sponsorship and registration, an amazing £1,369 was raised on the day courtesy of generous supporters through donation buckets, organised by hospice volunteers throughout the morning.

Nichola Whymark, Head of Partnership Fundraising at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “Thank you so much to all who supported our Christmas Day Dip. From our dippers and volunteers through to staff who attended on the day and everyone who donated via sponsorship or bucket collections. You are all superstars!

“Every penny raised will help our team continue to develop our services to support more patients and their families throughout East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney during difficult times in their lives.”

All funds raised by the Christmas Day Dip went towards the hospice’s Christmas campaign, Be a Star, which raised more than £128,000 for the independent Suffolk charity – a record breaking amount for the hospice’s annual festive appeal.
