Business teams raise £11,500 at St Elizabeth Hospice golf day
Twenty teams from Suffolk businesses made St Elizabeth Hospice’s golf day go with a swing by helping raise £11,500 for the charity.
They took to the fairway at Hintlesham Golf Club on May 13th to compete in a Texas Scramble in the morning and a Stableford competition in the afternoon.
In the evening they enjoyed a dinner and took part in a unique text messaging auction with bidding popular on a number of prizes. St Elizabeth Hospice chief executive Jane Petit gave a speech.
St Elizabeth Hospice’s business income generation manager Carl Brooks said the golf day was such a success that next year’s event has already been set for May 4th 2012 and would feature former England goalkeeping legend Peter Shilton.
Mr Brooks added:”The level of support from the business community for St Elizabeth Hospice’s golf day was fantastic and we would like to thank everyone who took part. Next year we plan to introduce a celebrity golf element and welcome former England goalkeeper Peter Shilton to join us for the day and he will also give the after dinner speech.”
The golf competition was won by Matthew Hibberd from Ipswich-based manufacturers Bauder while the team with the highest score was VW Wosley, with Ipswich-based digital agency Itineris (pictured right) a close second.
St Elizabeth Hospice relies on the support of the local people and business community to meet the bulk of its £6.6m annual running costs, through fundraising events such as the golf day and donations.
Sponsorship opportunities and early bird team entry rates are available for next year’s golf day.
