Bollywood dance expert visits Hospice ahead of star-turn at Midnight Walk
This year there will be more entertainment than ever before to keep the 2,000 women motivated throughout the eight-mile walk.
Britain’s top Bollywood dance expert Honey Kalaria, who has worked alongside Beyonce, Gareth Gates and Craig David and performed in front of Tony Blair and Princess Diana, will be kicking off the fun at start venue Ipswich Town Football Club with a mass-participation Indian-inspired dance warm up.
Honey visited the Hospice on Wednesday 27th April to meet staff and patients and give a taste of the dance moves she will be teaching the walkers.
She said: “St Elizabeth Hospice’s Midnight Walk is a brilliant event for women to take part in and I am looking forward to getting them all fired up before they set off. Bollywood dance moves are a great way of working out and we will be having a lot of fun.
“I know all the money raised from this walk will help St Elizabeth Hospice to continue to provide its much-needed services free of charge and I am pleased to be able to help at this event.”
After the warm-up, women will then set off and there will be more entertainment at every mile to keep spirits up and the fun-factor high.
Among the new attractions en route will be fire eaters, stilt walkers, jugglers, cheeky people dressed as monkeys handing out bananas to provide walkers with an energy boost. And back due to popular demand – as they are always a hit with the ladies – the fireman from Colchester Road station who are happy to pose for photos and the topless collar and cuffs men, who will this year be outside the California Club in Foxhall Road providing refreshments.
Many of the walkers will be walking in memory of a loved one and for the first time this year they will be able to have a moment of reflection outside the Hospice, in Foxhall Road, and leave a personal message on a memory tree.
Event organiser Rachael Mittell said: “The Midnight Walk is not far away and the excitement is mounting. Registration closes on Friday 6th May and we would love to have 2,000 women taking part, so please if you are thinking of signing up do so today!”
The Midnight Walk is supported by the Evening Star, East Anglian Daily Times, Star Advertiser and Town 102.
