Blossom Charity Gives Makeover Treat
Carers of patients at St Elizabeth Hospice’s Community Care Unit enjoyed a makeover treat this autumn courtesy of the Blossom Charity.
Based in Eye, Suffolk, Blossom Charity works alongside its sister organisation – ‘dream on’ – to help women, who are facing challenges, to live their best lives, by offering workshops, coaching and makeover days.
After reaching out to St Elizabeth Hospice, in November the Blossom Charity team provided a range of make-up makeovers for carers of patients from across the hospice’s services including the hospice’s Community Care Unit service.
Amanda Church of Blossom Charity said: “I reached out to Kerrian at the hospice to see what we could offer and she kindly set up an opportunity for six carers to visit us to enjoy a makeover session.
“It was a lovely day and something we would be keen to offer once again in the future, potentially also to visit the hospice to provide makeover lessons to carers so they could give treatments to patients as well.”
One of the carers who attended the makeover with Blossom Charity was Emily Mutepfa (pictured). She said: “It was a really good day and it was lovely to meet different people who are experiencing similar things to you.
“My Dad, myself and my two sisters all support my Mum, and it was a special treat to take part in the makeover day with my older sister. We all enjoyed our makeovers and were given takeaways from the day for us to enjoy as well.”
The Community Care Unit is a service, which replaced the hospice’s former Day Care services, in both East Suffolk and Great Yarmouth and Waveney.
The Community Care Unit supports patients with complex needs. The service supports symptom control, advance and improve ease of access to professionals and provide social integration, as well as delivering additional services such as complementary therapy, hairdressing and beauty therapy for patients to use.
It is aimed at those suffering from a progressive or life-limiting illness requiring the input of several of our professionals and who would benefit from having their appointments on the same day.
Kerrian Storey, Community Care Unit Team Leader at the hospice, added: “Thank you so much to Amanda and her team for providing this lovely opportunity which was enjoyed by everyone who took part.
“We look forward to working with the Blossom Charity once again in the near future and seeing how they can provide further to our Community Care Unit service.”
