Bikers raise £5,000 for the Hospice

They rode in convoy on Sunday June 26th to raise money for the charity.

The scenic route started from Stonham Barns in Stonham Aspal and went through Framlingham, Tunstall, Rendlesham, around the outskirts of Woodbridge, Melton and Martlesham and then along the A14 finishing at the Felixstowe Motorcycle Show in the town centre.

The event, which was the third annual ride-out for the Hospice, was supported by Rob Day and Derek Barker, of Suffolk Advanced Motorcyclists (SAM), a charity which aims to improve riding standards, and Ray Walters, owner of Orwell Motorcycles.

The Hospice’s community fundraiser Rachael Mittell, who helped organise the event, said: “The atmosphere was amazing and the bikers were so friendly and generous. We were really pleased with the turn out, it was such an amazing sight to see so many motorcyclists all riding for St Elizabeth Hospice. To raise £5,000 in one morning was brilliant and really will make a difference.

“I would like to thank everyone who took part as well as Suffolk Advanced Motorcyclists and Ray Walters for all their help.

“We hope to see everyone again at next year’s St Elizabeth Hospice Motorcycle Run.”

St Elizabeth Hospice provides improves life for people living in East Suffolk with a progressive illness. It is an independent charity and relies on the support of the local community to raise money towards the £6.6 million annual running costs.
