500 people now signed up to the Midnight Walk
The Midnight Walk, St Elizabeth Hospice’s biggest fundraising event of the year, has reached a significant milestone with 500 people now signed up to take part.
The event has received a significant boost from prominent local figures including former Ipswich Town Football Club captain Matt Holland and Town 102 presenters Nick Pandolfi and Dave James.
They are all encouraging men and women to sign up for the night-time circular walk or run which takes place from ITFC on Saturday 18th May.
With this being the first year that the Midnight Walk is open to men, both Nick Pandolfi and Dave James have committed to take part to help raise as much sponsorship as possible for the Hospice.
Meanwhile Matt Holland has shown his support by encouraging more people to sign up and tweeting it to his 54,000 followers.
Matt Holland said: “St Elizabeth Hospice does an incredible job to provide care for those with a progressive illness, as well as supporting their friends and family.
“Fundraising events such as the Midnight Walk are really important in helping fund the Hospice’s work, which is why I’m delighted to back this year’s Midnight Walk, especially as for the first time the event is open to men as well as women.
“I would like to encourage as many groups of men, women and families to sign up to take part and help support the fantastic work of the Hospice. Help make this the most successful Midnight Walk yet.”

“It is fantastic to have 500 people now signed up to take part – Saturday 18th May is looking set to be a brilliant night out for men as well as women, so please join us.”
St Elizabeth Hospice provides services free of charge to patients and their families in East Suffolk, North Essex and South East Norfolk, but relies on fundraising and donations to meet most of its £8.7m a year running costs.
St Elizabeth Hospice’s Midnight Walk is the charity’s biggest and most popular sponsored event and the money it raises helps fund services so they can be provided free of charge.
Many people take part in groups as a fitness challenge, in memory of a loved one or just to have a fun night out. All participants are asked to raise sponsorship.
Midnight Walk 2013 is also supported by the East Anglian Daily Times, Ipswich Star and Town 102. Registration costs just £15.
