I’m Becky, the Events and Challenges fundraiser at the hospice and I have worked at the hospice for 3 and a half years2.Can you give us an overview of what your day looks like?My day is really varied, I lead on the organisation of a bunch of the hospice’s mass participation events including Midnight Walk so it covers everything from recruiting and briefing volunteers through to working with staging, entertainment and production suppliers to make it a night to remember! This year has been really tough but our virtual Midnight Walk has been popular and I can’t wait to hopefully see the real thing back next year! I also help steward individuals taking on challenges to boost their fundraising and help to make fundraising resources for our event participants.3.Have you got a favourite memory from working at the hospice?I think my favourite memory would be after I organised my first Midnight Walk – on the night there was a torrential downpour but our walkers did amazingly to power through. They ended up raising over £230,000 for the hospice which was the most amount of money in the UK for a Midnight Walk that year and was also awarded the Best Campaign of Year award in the regional Institute of Fundraising 2018 awards.4.What would you say to someone looking to work at the hospice? You’ll never realise just how much care for our patients and supporters goes into every department and everything we do at the hospice, everyone goes above and beyond – come and experience it for yourself!5.What one thing would someone be surprised to find out about your job?We regularly have to dress up in the income generation team to get people talking about what we’re up to – this can be as our favourite sheep Woolly or a personal high/(low) light for me was dressing up as a jilted zombie bride in the middle of July in Chantry park to advertise our first Who’s Afraid of the Park event!
