13-year-old Isla raises £300 for hospice through fundraising bake sale

06 September 2021

Thirteen-year-old Isla from Ipswich has raised £300 for St Elizabeth Hospice through selling some of her tasty bakes at a recent cake sale.

Isla, who lives in Ipswich, sold her cakes to friends, family and neighbours in order to raise money for the hospice which had cared for her nanny and grandad before they passed away.

Isla, who like her mum Melanie, has a passion for baking, also held a bake sale for the independent Suffolk charity in 2019 after learning the care the hospice delivers is provided using funds mainly donated by the community.

Isla said: “It feels very rewarding to raise money for the hospice, as I know it is going towards a good cause which cares for people so wonderfully. Thank you to everyone who bought one of my cakes!”

St Elizabeth Hospice improves life for people in East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney living with a progressive or life-limiting illness. Our work is centred on an individual’s needs, which means specialist support, whenever and wherever it is needed, whether at home, in the community or at the hospice. Through medicine and therapy we ease pain; we give life purpose and make life liveable.
