Hospice Education

We offer training and support to local health and social care professionals involved in the care of individuals facing incurable illness and bereavement.

St Elizabeth Hospice, in partnership with St Helena, offers local health and social care professionals specialist training and education in end of life and palliative care.

Hospice Education provides a range of courses from introductory sessions, to palliative care masterclasses and full study days.

Education, training and learning and development sessions are provided both online and in person and cover an extensive array of topics for healthcare professionals working in end of life care and bereavement support.

In person training may take place at St Helena’s Learning and Development Centre in Colchester, or St Elizabeth Hospice’s Education Centre in Ipswich.

Here at Hospice Education it is important to us that we are able include everyone with different backgrounds and make the education experience accessible for all. If you have any special requirements or need any reasonable adjustments to be made please email education@stelizabethhospice.org.uk in advance of attending the training.

Palliative care masterclasses

Formerly known as community of practice education sessions, palliative care masterclasses are held monthly, with each session focussing on a different topic. These are delivered online via Microsoft Teams and consist of a 45 minute presentation followed by a 45 minute case study. Delegates are able to attend both or one of the 45 minute sessions.

Please be aware, places are limited so are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Care home accreditation

We have developed an accredited certificate in end of life care for care homes to help improve standards for those in the community needing palliative or end of life care.

ReSPECT

ReSPECT stands for Recommended Summary Plan for Emergency Care and Treatment.

When people plan ahead for their care, it is important to know their wishes and that correct information is captured.

Find out more on ReSPECT via the button below.

Bespoke training

Bespoke training can be arranged and tailored to your organisations specific needs.

Our flexible approach means we are well equipped to offer bespoke training, either at St Elizabeth Hospice, or at your place of work.  Please enquire for details.
