Remember a loved one on Walk of Thoughts

Join St Elizabeth Hospice and take a peaceful walk through the beautiful Suffolk countryside.

The reflective walk on Sunday 5th October, starting and finishing at Ipswich High School for Girls, will take you around picturesque Woolverstone and Pin Mill.

You can choose from a three or five mile walk and both routes have been carefully planned by local walking group, the Suffolk Rambling Club.

There will be a short informal remembrance service to reflect and remember a loved one, not just those touched by Hospice care, before the start of the walk.

Walkers will also be invited to write the name of their loved one on a pebble, provided by the Hospice, which they can keep, or personalise a tag which can be hung on a tree of remembrance where the three and five mile routes cross each other. Participants will also receive a bookmark containing seeds which they can take home and plant in their loved one’s memory.

This will be the local Hospice’s second Walk of Thoughts this year. Gavin Lamb, event organiser, said: “Since the Hospice opened in 1989 we have cared for 20,000 people and we wanted to provide another opportunity in our 25th Anniversary year for people to remember the loved ones they have lost over the years.

“The Walk of Thoughts is your chance to take a peaceful and reflective walk, to remember a friend or loved one – whether or not they were cared for by the Hospice – or to simply enjoy a walk and the stunning scenery.”

The event attracts keen walkers, as well as those remembering loved ones, and participants are encouraged to raise sponsorship.
