More than £5,300 has been raised for charity by the Peek family, through a fundraising evening held in memory of Christine Peek.
Held at The Hotel Victoria, Lowestoft, on 7th June, the fundraiser saw more than 170 people attend, with the ‘Night of Glitz & Glamour’ featuring a red carpet, magician, live music and singing as well as disco.
Funds raised will go towards St Elizabeth East Coast Hospice, Beccles Rotary Club and The Brain Tumour Charity as thank you for their support of Christine, who died from a brain tumour, aged 74-years-old in 2023.
Jessica Hayward, Christine’s Granddaughter, said: “Thank you to everybody who joined on the evening and to all who donated to our fundraising in Nanny’s memory, it really means a lot.
“She really was the family Queen and she has left a big hole in our hearts, as we all miss her dearly.
“It was a pretty awesome night and couldn’t have gone any better. The band were amazing, everybody was up on the dancefloor and there was a great atmosphere – everything Nanny would have loved.
“Prior to our experience of St Elizabeth East Coast Hospice, our family had never received hospice care, but until you need their services you don’t realise how important it is.
“I feel so passionately about St Elizabeth East Coast Hospice and I hope my support, through fundraising and volunteering for the charity, can help make a difference to all under their care.”
St Elizabeth East Coast Hospice which, in partnership with East Coast Community Healthcare, has cared for more than 4,900 patients and their families in Great Yarmouth and Waveney, since launching in April 2019.
Celia Joseph, Community and Projects Manager at St Elizabeth East Coast Hospice, added: “A big thank you to Jessica and her whole family for raising such a fantastic amount of money for St Elizabeth East Coast Hospice.
“Jessica’s passion and drive for this event shone through and congratulations on raising such an amazing amount. Every penny raised will make such a difference to the hospice as we continue to evolve and expand our services to support more patients and their loved ones throughout Great Yarmouth and Waveney. We would like to thank everyone who supported from donating gifts through to attending on the evening”
