Join the Suffolk Coast Bike Ride for St Elizabeth Hospice

Registration has been officially launched for the Hospice’s annual sponsored bike ride which takes place on Sunday 4th August.
After three years of successful On Your Bike! events, the Hospice is now delighted to be the charity partner of the popular Suffolk Coast Bike Ride.
Starting and finishing at Glemham Hall, the event features a choice of two routes – 35 miles and a more challenging 60 miles.
Both head north through pretty countryside and villages before splitting at Sibton. The short route then swings east towards Dunwich on the coast, while the longer continues north to reach Covehithe with its curious ‘Russian Doll’ churches. Following the coast south, the long route rejoins the short route near Dunwich, crossing open heathland to finish back at Glemham Hall.
Emily Sullivan, Events Fundraiser, said: “This event is suitable for experienced cyclists. There will be some stunning scenery to take in and we hope the Suffolk Coast Bike Ride will raise thousands of pounds to help us to continue to provide local hospice care for local people.”
Cyclists are asked to raise sponsorship and all proceeds will help the Hospice, an independent charity which costs £8.7m a year to run and relies on fundraising events such as the Suffolk Coast Bike Ride as well as individual donations and the income generated from its shops.
Entry fees are £17.50 in advance for adults or £20 on the day or £8 for children under 14. Teams of six or more can also enter for £16.50 in advance. Riders can set off between 8am – 10am at a time to suit you.
There is a minimum age of 12 for the 35 mile route and 15 for the 60 mile route, and all cyclists under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
There will be stops along the route for participants to refill water bottles and buy food and drinks.
St Elizabeth Hospice is dedicated to helping people living with a progressive illness and supporting their families in East Suffolk and South Norfolk. It provides free services across the area in people’s homes and at day units at Gorleston, Beccles, Ditchingham, near Bungay, and Ipswich.  There are inpatient units in Ditchingham and Ipswich and a range of services at the Louise Hamilton Centre in Gorleston.
