In the swing! 40s-inspired dance raises thousands of pounds for Hospice

A 40s-inspired hangar dance organised by our Waveney Friends Group saw 900 people stepping back in time to raise thousands of pounds for the Hospice.

The event was held over two nights at Ellough Airfield near Beccles on Friday 28th June and Saturday 29th June.

It featured a big band playing period music, military vehicles, most people in 40s style costume, a barbecue and raffle.

It was the 21st hangar dance organised by the Waveney Friends Group – and the Saturday night was a sell-out.

Stalwarts Ken and Sue Woodgate and Elizabeth Rivett were among the organisers who worked hard to make the event a success.

St Elizabeth Hospice’s chief executive Jane Petit said: “This year’s hangar dance was absolutely fantastic. There was a great atmosphere and everyone got into the swing of the 40s theme.

“I would like to thank our Waveney Friends Group for all their hard work and everyone else who supported the event.”

The events raised thousands of pounds for the Hospice, which relies on fundraising and donations to meet the majority of its running costs.

Diary date: Next year’s hangar dances will be on June 28th and 29th – and tickets go on sale on May 1st 2013. Contact Ken and Sue Woodgate on 01502 511944
