Hospice's summer campaign raises £14,000

More than 250 people helped raise £14,000 for St Elizabeth Hospice this summer in memory of their loved ones.

The local charity invited people to dedicate a beautiful sunflower marker to loved ones as part of their Sunflower Memories campaign which they were then able to view at a Preview Day at the hospice on Foxhall Road on Sunday.

263 people dedicated a marker and made a donation to the hospice, with around 185 of them attending the Preview Day to see their markers, which were displayed in bright yellow wheelbarrows, creating a sea of colour in the tranquil, gorgeous garden.

Pauline Donkin, St Elizabeth Hospice’s fundraising development manager, said: “Thank you to everyone who dedicated a sunflower and who joined us on Sunday. It was a beautiful, poignant afternoon and it was lovely to see so many people filling our garden, sharing memories of their loved ones.

“Thank you also to Scintillo Quartet who provided the ambient music and to our Felixstowe and Woodbridge Friends Groups for making and serving the homemade refreshments.
“This is the second Sunflower Memories appeal, and we are delighted to have raised well over £14,000, which will go towards providing vital care and support to our patients and families living with a progressive illness such as cancer, motor neurone disease and heart failure.”
