A Halloween Firewalk and party raised £9,000 for St Elizabeth Hospice.
Some 30 people took on the challenge to walk over hot coals under the guidance of Guinness World record holder Scott Bell on Saturday 29th October.
They were sponsored to do this and one firewalker Diane Wilson has raised more than £1,000 so far.
Members of the Stowmarket Friends of St Elizabeth Hospice were among those who took part.
Around 200 people attended the Halloween themed family party at Kesgrave Conference and Community Centre.
There was some great entertainment and activities including a disco, pumpkin carving, a children’s area with Halloween arts and crafts, toffee apples, candy floss and the Hospice catering team laid on a BBQ.
Rachael Maidment, senior community fundraiser at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “It was a great evening and everyone enjoyed themselves, even those who psyched them up for the Firewalk challenge.
“Some participants enjoyed it so much they walked over the hot coals several times. We are delighted the event raised £9,000 which will help us to provide care and support for our patients and their families.
“I would like to thank everyone who supported the event including the participants and volunteers.” St Elizabeth Hospice costs £6.6m a year to run and its next fundraising event will be Suffolk Santas in December.”
