Over 65 walkers have raised £5,000 for St Elizabeth East Coast Hospice through completing the charity’s unique fundraising walk – the First Light Walk – as part of this year’s First Light Festival.
Taking place on 23rd June, between 4.15am and 9.30am, First Light Walk saw 69 supporters complete sponsored five mile walks from Kessingland along the beach to South Pier Lowestoft, taking in the first light of the sun at 4.30am.
All funds raised will go towards St Elizabeth East Coast Hospice which, in partnership with East Coast Community Healthcare, has cared for more than 4,850 patients and their families in Great Yarmouth and Waveney since launching in April 2019.
James Fox-Golding, Events and Challenges Manager at St Elizabeth East Coast Hospice, said: “Congratulations to all the brilliant walkers who joined us for our inaugural First Light Walk. It truly was a great experience, with a fantastic atmosphere, as we took in the stunning views of the East Anglian coast.
“Thank you to Belle Coaches for helping transport the walkers to the starting point, in Kessingland, and thanks to First Light Festival for having us join their event, as well as Norton Peskett solicitors for sponsoring.
“All funds raised will make a difference, as we continue to expand our services to support those living with life-limiting conditions across Great Yarmouth and Waveney.”
