St Elizabeth Hospice is among the charities benefiting from Daybreak’s Donate a Day initiative.
The ITV show is revisiting the campaign this week which it first launched in May.
Supported by a range of stars of stage and screen – including Simon Cowell, Rod Stewart, Pixie Lott and Paul O’Grady – Donate a Day encourages Daybreak’s viewers to pledge their time to a charity including hospices. National charity Help the Hospices is featured on Daybreak’s website, where viewers can click through to find the details of their nearest hospice.
Members of the Daybreak presenting team donated their time for various causes including Dr Hilary who spent the day at a hospice in Exeter joining regular hospice volunteers, making tea and serving lunch to day patients.
St Elizabeth Hospice is asking people to get involved and volunteer for the Hospice. There are lots of opportunities to choose from such as volunteering in our shops, helping at fundraising events or being an extra pair of hands in the kitchen or garden.
Catering
Catering volunteers assist the Catering team, providing general support enabling the prompt preparation and serving of meals. The role involves working in the kitchen area and on the dining room till over the lunchtime period.
Retail
There are vacancies in a number of our retail outlets. We have shops across Suffolk and a Distribution Centre based in Ipswich.
Duties include:
- Sorting and pricing goods
- Displaying and rotating goods
- Serving customers and dealing with queries
- Stock replenishment
- Till operation
- Merchandising stock
- General housekeeping and tidying
Gardening
Duties include sweeping, leaf raking, grass and hedge cutting, planting, weeding and general garden tasks.
Fundraising
The Hospice organises numerous events and fundraising opportunities throughout the year. Volunteering could include helping at a sponsored event on registration, helping with collections at supermarkets or administration and general duties within the community fundraising office.
