Could your delightful doggy be the star of a new charity dog walk?

Does your pet pooch have what it takes to be the face of a new charity dog walk coming later this year?

St Elizabeth Hospice is on the hunt for a marvellous mutt to be the face of Follow My Lead, a dog walk where a canine companion is the star of the show.

The walk, which takes place on 12 March 2017 at Alton Water, will cost each dog £10 to take part and they can bring their human friends along for free. The winner of the competition must be available to start the walk and will also receive a prize of a pet portrait session (to be taken on the weekend of 28/29 January) that will capture the dog’s best side. The images will be given to the owner to keep and treasure and will also be used to publicise the event to other dogs interested in taking part.

Nigel Donkin, Community and Volunteer Fundraising Manager at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “We regularly have dogs popping into the hospice to see their owners so we thought it’s time we organised an event just for them.

“We are now searching for one pampered pooch to become the face of the event and they will adorn the posters, leaflets, banners and social media posts we use to promote Follow My Lead to other dogs. Whether you have a beautiful boxer, a dashing dachshund, a perky pug or a shaggy sheepdog, we’d love to hear from all dogs that would like to be a star and help make this new event a successful one for the hospice.”

To enter, dog owners need to send in photos of their dog to our Facebook page or email their photos to fundraising@stelizabethhospice.org.uk by midnight on Thursday 19 January. Entries will then be shortlisted to create a top six. A poll will then open to the public to find the face of Follow My Lead.
