Annual festive fundraiser for local hospice returns

A local charity’s festive fundraiser returns this year and aims to get us all in our Christmas jumpers to raising money and support those facing Christmas with a terminal illness.

St Elizabeth Hospice has today launched Woolly Pully Week which will take place from Monday 11 December to Sunday 17 December and is calling on local businesses, schools and groups to pull on their Christmas jumper and support the work they do in the local community.

Jodie Witham, community fundraising co-ordinator at the hospice, said: “Taking part in Woolly Pully Week is really simple. All people need to do is request a free fundraising pack from us, promote when they’ll be taking part in Woolly Pully Week and collect in everyone’s donations.

“The event was incredibly well supported by the local community last year and raised over £17,000 for the hospice. This year we want to encourage even more people to have some festive fun and support the charity in this way and our fundraising pack is crammed full of ideas to maximise the money raised during Woolly Pully Week.”

Schools, groups and businesses are already pledging their support to the hospice and almost 100 fundraising packs have already been requested.

Local business Waddington Brown has already signed up and staff at the recruitment firm are looking forward to their fundraising. Emma Gunton, managing director at Waddington Brown, said: “We wanted to be able to show our support for a local charity at Christmas time and Woolly Pully Week seems like a fun way for us to all gather together as a company and show our support for an organisation which supports the people of the community we work in. We’ve also roped in the rest of Claydon Court with Strident and Kingsfleet Wealth joining us too.

“We’re keen to maximise our fundraising for the hospice so, as avid viewers of The Great British Bake Off, we’ll also be hosting a bake sale in the office to try to raise as much money as possible.”

Woolly Pully Week is proudly sponsored by Waddington Brown, Attwells Solicitors, Willis Towers Watson, East of England Co-op, Ensors, Leaders and Bounce.
