Accumulator Challenge kicks off at Hospice

St Elizabeth Hospice’s popular Accumulator Challenge kicked off on Wednesday – and following the success of last year’s challenge which raised £27,000, the competition is on!

15 teams from local companies signed up to take on the Hospice’s third Accumulator Challenge, each pledging to turn £50 into as much charity cash as possible in three months – in any safe and legal way they wish.

The teams gathered in the garden of the Hospice in Foxhall Road, Ipswich, to be given their £50 stake by the Hospice’s Business Partnerships Lead Fundraiser Brian Taylor.

Brian said: “Ideas were flying around from the different organisations at the launch and we’re really excited to see what initiatives our teams come up with over the next three months to raise money for local Hospice care.

“Last year’s winners, Grass Solutions, are taking part again this year and I know they’re eager to retain their trophy but there’s a lot of competitive teams up against them so it will be interesting to see how that pans out over the months.”

Companies taking part are:
• Barclays – Framlingham
• Ensors – Saxmundham
• Alder Tree Ice Cream
• Grass Solutions
• Halifax – Felixstowe
• Pentalver
• Alder Carr Farm Shop
• Antistat
• Barclays – Ipswich
• Hughes TV Halesworth
• Orwell Network
• Ansaback
• Anglia Factors
• Barclays – Saxmundham
• Barclays – Stowmarket

Some teams have already planned events to raise money including Antistat’s day off lottery and name the baby competition, Orwell Network’s balloon race and Pentalver’s badminton tournament – and it’s not too late to join them.
