This is a people-focused role for someone who enjoys being out in the community, building relationships, developing partnerships and finding creative ways to inspire people to volunteer. You’ll regularly travel throughout Great Yarmouth, Waveney and Suffolk, representing St Elizabeth Hospice and creating opportunities to strengthen our local presence and impact.
Key Responsibilities

- Build strong community relationships and partnerships, working with local organisations, schools, colleges, businesses, groups and networks to raise awareness of St Elizabeth Hospice and develop new routes into volunteering.
- Be a visible ambassador for the hospice, regularly attending community events, recruitment campaigns, meetings and networking opportunities, delivering talks and presentations and engaging with people both face-to-face and online.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and managers to understand current and future volunteer needs, develop inclusive volunteering opportunities, support volunteers throughout their journey and use insight and data to improve recruitment and engagement.
What You Bring
- A natural networker and relationship builder who is confident engaging with a diverse range of people, developing partnerships and representing an organisation positively within the community.
- Energy, creativity and initiative, with the ability to identify new opportunities, try different approaches and turn ideas into action to grow volunteering and support service development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to inspire others, deliver presentations and build trust with volunteers, colleagues and external organisations.
- A flexible and self-motivated approach, with strong administration and organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload, work to targets and travel regularly throughout Great Yarmouth, Waveney and Suffolk using your own vehicle, including occasional evenings and weekends.

St Elizabeth Hospice is an independent charity and hospice, which improves life for people in the East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney areas living with a progressive or life-limiting illness.
Established in 1989, the hospice has built a reputation for delivering high-level care to patients and the community it serves. Last year the charity supported over 4,000 patients and their families. The hospice’s work is centred on the individual’s needs and they provide specialist support wherever it is needed; whether that is in the home, another setting in the community, in hospital or in the hospice itself. Support is provided to patients and their families via the Inpatient Unit, the Community Care Unit including outpatient’s clinics, home visits from the community nursing, medical or therapy team, the OneCall 24/7 telephone helpline and bereavement support.
In 2023, St Elizabeth Hospice merged with East Coast Hospice to form a collaborative approach to developing achievable and sustainable specialist palliative care services for people living the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area.
St Elizabeth Hospice is committed to safeguarding and protecting the adults and young people that we work with and has a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, neglect and discrimination of any person. As such, all posts are subject to a rigorous safer recruitment process, including the disclosure of criminal records and vetting checks. We have a range of robust safeguarding policies in place which promote safeguarding across the hospice and staff are expected to undertake regular, mandatory safeguarding training to equip them with the knowledge and skills to identify and respond to potential risks.
