Here Together: inside your hospice

A lot has changed over the last few months, so we wanted to show you what's been happening inside the hospice. In this series of videos, we talk to staff from various departments around the hospice including The Hub, reception, the therapy team and the education department.

St Elizabeth Hospice 2020 Pandemic Response

Here Together: About the campaign

While preparing to cope with the impact of Coronavirus on our end of life care and bereavement services over the coming weeks, we've launched an urgent appeal to the public to support our local hospice in light of all fundraising events being postponed and all 31 retail shops closing.

We welcome the Chancellors commitment to the hospice movement and we are waiting to see what this means for St Elizabeth Hospice. As the financial impact of Coronavirus is so significant, we still need your support of the Here Together campaign to continue providing much needed care for patients and their families.

Our clinical staff are working in partnership with the NHS and other partners at speed to significantly expand services both in the community and at the hospice in response to Coronavirus, whilst continuing to care for patients with non-Covid end of life and palliative care needs.

A new rapid response co-ordination centre has been created called The Hub in the past few weeks to cope with the expected increase in demand for clinical advice and end of life care in the community, doubling the capacity of our existing OneCall telephone advice helpline.

Last year, we cared for over 3,000 Suffolk patients and their families at a cost of £10.5m, of which 75% was raised by the community through the shops and local fundraising – income-generating activities which are now impossible due to social distancing and self-isolation.
