Suitable for any social or health care assistants and carers (care and nursing home staff, carers in the community and health care professionals) who work with life-limiting conditions or have an interest in developing their knowledge around end of life care.

Foundations in End of Life Care

This session focuses on the basics of end of life care and is a great foundation for new staff and individuals unsure about palliative and end of life care. The session is both informative and interactive with a good variety of activities, including a presentation, group discussion, handouts and information to take away.

What will I learn from this course (learning objectives)?
  • The five priorities of end-of-life care.
  • My care wishes – what are they for? Why do we need them?
  • How to recognise dying and when to seek advice
  • Practical care for individuals who are dying
  • Non pharmaceutical methods of pain management.
  • The difference between palliative care and end-of-life care

Parking

Parking is limited at all 3 hospice sites so we ask that you park in accordance with the highway code as poor parking creates a reputational risk for the hospices with our neighbours .  Due to the residential location of St Helena Hospice, please take note of restricted parking areas along with overflow parking option and footpath route to the hospice. Thank you for your consideration.

Cancellation Policy

Please contact us at the earliest opportunity. We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for the cancellation of our courses. For cancellations within 48 hours of the event, any course fee paid will be retained. Fees will also be retained if you do not attend the session on the set date. All courses are subject to change or cancellation suitable notification will be provided.
