Symptom Management for RN’s and Paramedics (2024)
This training is divided into 2 separate sessions :
Session 1 – Symptom Management in the last year
Identification of what Palliative Care is and the principles of Advance Care Planning
What is meant by the term Holistic assessment and how to apply in practice
Recognition of common symptoms that may occur during the last year of life and discussion around strategies for their assessment
Identification of when anticipatory medications may be required and where to access further support.
Session 2 – Symptom Management in the last days of life
How to recognise when a patient is in the last days of life (Dying Phase)
Explanation of the principles of Anticipatory prescribing
Identification of the 5 main symptoms at the End of Life and how they can be managed
Both sessions will be held on the same day (Session 1 from 10:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs and Session 2 from 14:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs).
Delegates are encouraged to attend both sessions on the same day. However, It is understood that some delegates will be unable to attend Session 1 and Session 2 on the same day or may wish to attend only one of the sessions. If this is the case please email education@stelizabethhospice.org.uk with the dates of the session(s) you wish to attend and whenever possible we will accommodate your request.
