Adaptive and Distressed Behaviours in Dementia Care (2025)
This three-hour workshop provides health and social care professionals with the essential building blocks for working with those living with dementia who display distressed behaviours. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore what the distressed and adaptive behaviours might indicate about the emotional state of mind of the individual. We will use case studies to consider how to construct a range of approaches and interventions to best support individual need.
On completion of the course, you will:
- Recognise patterns of behaviour to current situations and triggers to past experiences.
- Understand the cycle of distress and range of emotional reactions
- Recognise impact of ineffective communication on distressed person
- Be able to reflect on own emotional and behavioural response to challenging situations
- Consider approaches that can be employed to de-escalate distressed behaviours

Please contact us at the earliest opportunity. We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for the cancellation of our courses. For cancellations within 48 hours of the event, any course fee paid will be retained. Fees will also be retained if you do not attend the session on the set date. All courses are subject to change or cancellation suitable notification will be provided.
