Information for Patients and Families

St Elizabeth Hospice improves life for people living with a progressive illness such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease and in the advanced stages of conditions such as heart, lung or kidney disease.

We focus on each patient as an individual and we support their family members and carers too. Our wide range of services are available in the community, at our Day Units, Inpatient Unit and at a home. Care is delivered by a skilled multidisciplinary team including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, complementary therapists, family support workers and healthcare assistants.

We have over 1,000 volunteers who help across all aspects of the organisation including supporting patient care.

Supporting family and carers

Emotional support may be needed with adapting to a changing lifestyle, living with an illness and managing loss. Sometimes it can help to talk with someone who is not part of the family and who is a professionally trained and a skilled listener and able to offer support with the challenges that living with a progressive illness can bring.

We also organise regular events aimed at supporting carers such as a restaurant evening at the Ipswich site for patients and their carers so they can enjoy a social activity in a supportive environment.

Emotional support is available to any person, their family, friends or carers who have been referred to Hospice. For information on how to self refer and advice on providing support to yourself or your family please contact the Emotional Wellbeing Support Line on 01473 707999 (Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm)

Losing someone is one of the hardest things anyone has to face, and finding a lasting way to remember them can be a great comfort. A St Elizabeth Tribute Fund set up in your loved one's memory can be a wonderful way to honour and celebrate the life of someone special.
