Remember someone special this summer
This summer, you're invited to dedicate a beautiful sunflower emblem to remember someone special in aid of St Elizabeth Hospice.
Proudly sponsored by
The commemorative event will take place in the hospice garden on Sunday 20 August from 2pm - 4pm and you're invited to preview the beautiful display of sunflowers and take time to reflect on memories. Refreshments will also be available for you to enjoy.
In return for a donation to the hospice, the name of your loved one will adorn one of our sunflower markers and be planted in dedicated wooden wheelbarrows. These will decorate our beautiful garden, creating a sea of colour.
The sunflowers will remain on display until 31 August for patients, families, volunteers, staff and visitors to enjoy. You are welcome to come along to the hospice at any time to see them. Afterwards the sunflowers will be available for you to collect from the hospice reception until 30 September.
Brother and sister David and Sue Ridout will be at the event and will be dedicating a sunflower to both of their parents.
Their father Brian died at St Elizabeth Hospice last year, weeks after their mother Janet passed away from a short illness.
“The death of our parents is one of the hardest things we have ever had to endure. We love and miss them so much every day,” they said. “Nothing could have prepared us for the prospect of losing them both within 11 weeks of one another.
“St Elizabeth Hospice came to our rescue. There was no problem the hospice team couldn’t solve, and always with care and sensitivity.
“The pain of losing them both is still very real for us but we are slowly coming to terms with it, and feel so lucky to have such wonderful memories of them.
“This summer, to remember Mum and Dad, we will be joining the hospice at their annual Sunflower Memories event. We hope that you will be able to join us and help fill the gorgeous garden with special memories.”
