Frequently asked questions about contact preference consent

Frequently Asked Questions

Question

I already receive emails from St Elizabeth Hospice. Do I need to update my preferences?

Answer

If you already hear from us via email (or any other means) then we still need you to update your preferences, to confirm that you’re happy for us to continue contacting you. You can update your preferences here . If you do not update your preferences, after May 2018 we may not be able to contact you at all.

Question

Why is St Elizabeth Hospice making this change now?

Answer

From May 2018 Data Protection Regulations are changing and we need to be able to demonstrate clear evidence that we have your consent to contact you. If we do not have this clear consent we will not be able to contact you and you will no longer hear from St Elizabeth Hospice.

Question

What difference will I see?

Answer

If you change either how you would like us to contact you, or the subjects we contact you about, then these changes will be reflected from May 2018 on before. If you replicate your current choices you will see no change.

Question

Is this change costing the hospice money?

Answer

There will be some cost to the hospice but as it is a legal requirement to make these changes it is not something we can avoid.
However, by making this change and only contacting you in the way you choose, not only will you hear from us in the way that suits you best, but we can be more cost effective with our marketing activity.

Question

Can I change my mind?

Answer

Yes you can change your contact preferences at any point. Both the way we can contact you and what we contact you about. To change your contact preferences please call us on 01473 723600 or email fundraising@stelizabethhospice.org.uk.
