How your support will help us this Christmas

Taking part in the Christmas Day Dip will help us support our patients this Christmas.

Whether you just dip, or get sponsorship from your family and friends, every penny you contribute will help us help those who need us the most.

  • £20.68 can pay for a critical call to our 24hr advice line OneCall for patients and carers who are facing a crisis over Christmas
  • £47.79 can pay for a visit from our occupational therapists so essential equipment can be installed for patients to stay at home at Christmas
  • £103.84 can pay for a visit from the St Elizabeth community nurse specialists ensuring patients are pain free in their own homes this Christmas

How it all began.

A few words from Peter Burt - the founder of the Felixstowe Christmas Day Dip

"I have looked back over my photos & time since starting the Christmas Day swim for St Elizabeth Hospice...what a journey !

The idea started back in the early 2000s possibly 2002, but I'm not sure now. I have always wanted to do a Christmas day swim....just to say that I have ticked the box !

My first swim was in our small swimming pool at home...the next year was a swim at Cobbolds Point, Felixstowe... a few passers by wanted to donate   so I decided to give the money to the hospice.
I was at the time a HM Coastguard volunteer, & it was suggested that I should start a regular Christmas Day swim for St Elizabeth Hospice....which is how the swim started.....each year the numbers increased to the point where I passed over the running to your fund it is part of the Felixstowe calendar for 25th December at 10am !

My dad spent his last days in the hospice &  was so well looked after - it is so important for us as a family, so the next generation is continuing where I started..."
