Debbie’s story

Hi I'm Debbie and I have worked at the hospice for many years as a healthcare assistant.  In my personal life, Christmas is a time where I most enjoy seeing family and friends and celebrating the festive season.

At the hospice what makes Christmas special are the festive spirit, Christmas tree in the garden and the carols that are sung out there every year, patients, families, staff and volunteers all enjoy singing carols together.

Christmas at the hospice is also a precious time for patients and their families, the IPU team will do what they can to ensure families enjoy their Christmas together with peace of mind.  The hospice provides a safe place for all to enjoy the festive season.   Our colleagues in the kitchen really go the extra mile to provide Christmas dinner where families are welcome to join in, tables can be laid in the restaurant and we can even push a bed round to enable families to enjoy Christmas lunch together.

The hospice is special how it deals with Christmas, it is a happy place full of festive spirit and is able to provide care required in a sensitive way with peace of mind.   We hope to make everyone’s Christmas here a happy and memorable one.
