The hospice understands that it is important for those receiving care to have their say, whether they are a patient, carer or a family member. By listening to you and representing your views, the hospice can continue to deliver the very highest standards of care and support, and help everyone using hospice services to feel comfortable, safe and valued as individuals.
What is the Partnership Group?
The Partnership Group was established in 2005, and is made up of patients, carers, volunteers and hospice staff.
The group is an important part of the governance structure of St Elizabeth Hospice and acts as a valuable voice of the people we care for and support.
The members’ personal experience of hospice services make them best placed to advise on services and how we can improve on what we offer.
By being part of the group, you could help the hospice to continue to improve and develop services.
Who can join?
The Partnership Group is open to:
- Current and past patients, relatives and carers
- Existing volunteers
- Hospice supporters, who may not be known as volunteers, but support us in other ways, i.e. ambassadors
Also on the group are: the hospice CEO (or deputised nominee); one clinical and one non-clinical member of staff; and one (board) nominated Trustee.
What does the Partnership Group do?
The group acts as a committee: by listening to you and representing your views, the hospice can continue to deliver a high standard of care and support.
To do this, the group will join in with initiatives such as the 15 Step Challenge; an observational walkabout, putting themselves in the eyes of a patient, relative or visitor, to help recognise areas for improvement and celebrate what is done well.
Members will assist with Patient Audits and help with sharing patient stories.
The group also has representation on other hospice committees, including trustee board sub-committees, as well as external organisations such as Healthwatch Suffolk and the Cancer User Group at Ipswich Hospital.
Other duties of the Partnership Group includes:
- Overseeing volunteer nominations and elections to the Staff and Volunteer Forum
- Source individuals from the ‘supporter engagement programme’ as experts to assist with specific/appropriate projects
- Review and improve the ambassador programme
When does the group meet?
The group meet once a month on a Thursday morning at 10.30am - 12.30pm. They meet during the day so that they can use the hospice facilities and staff members can attend.
After the meeting members usually take the opportunity to stay for lunch at the hospice and enjoy the excellent food.
