Event Village Revealed for Hoot Hike

St Elizabeth Hospice has revealed the full details for its Hoot Hike event which will launch this summer’s Big Hoot Ipswich 2022.

The Big Hoot Ipswich 2022 is the third art trail brought to Ipswich by St Elizabeth Hospice in partnership with creative producers Wild in Art, following the success of Pigs Gone Wild 2016 and Elmer’s Big Parade Suffolk 2019.

Taking place on 19th June, the official launch of the Big Hoot Ipswich 2022, the Hoot Hike is a sponsored walk which will kick off the summer of fun and give the community their first chance to see the sculptures which will make up the art trail, as well as enjoy lots of other fun activities throughout the day.

Making sure everyone starts their Hoot Hike in the best way possible, will be Colchester’s favourite fitness instructor siblings, the Townsend Twins, while the Event Village will feature a range of interactive activities, crafts and raffle, suitable for all ages, as well as food and drink to be enjoyed.

This will include stalls from Suffolk Owl Sanctuary, face painting, ice cream from Gelato Italia, University of Suffolk running its Hoot short story writing competition, Noisey Group stall featuring fun games as well as much, much more.

Joanne Rodger, events and challenges manager at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “The Big Hoot Ipswich 2022 is all about the hospice coming together with the local community to celebrate art, raise awareness of the hospice and encourage people to explore Ipswich and support local shops and businesses.

“The Hoot Hike will be the perfect way to launch the trail and we are so thankful to all the businesses and organisations supporting both the trail and the Hoot Hike. We encourage everyone to join us on 19th June to capture a first glimpse of the sculptures, all while raising vital funds for the St Elizabeth Hospice.”

Beginning in Christchurch Park, where the event village will be located for registration, the hike will see participants complete a 5km trail around Ipswich, featuring a number of the town’s landmarks, a large selection of trail sculptures as well as other giveaways along the way.

Registration on the day of the hike will begin at 11am, with the event featuring three waves of walking groups – 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

Tickets cost £5 and participants are encouraged to raise additional funds for the hospice, as part of the hike, through sponsorship. To register for the Hoot Hike please visit https://register.enthuse.com/ps/event/HootHike.
