Cash from a bank job!

Training ride four: distance – 10.5 miles

Total training miles: 39.5

Days left until challenge: 354

A shortish evening ride today combining a job that needed doing with an opportunity to raise a few pounds more towards my sponsorship total, courtesy of some advice from our accountants.

Running a small business, many of our customers still settle their invoice by cheque.
While we are very pleased that they pay us, it does mean that we have to work in regular trips to Ipswich town centre to pay them in. Sometimes we can do this while on other business calls or sometimes it is a special trip.

Having let our accountants know that I was doing this challenge – and in doing so securing some more sponsorship – REMEMBER ASK EVERYONE! – as well as their pledge they also told me that that if I used my bike to make business trips I can claim 20p a mile. As banking is a legitimate trip by my reckoning tonight’s bike ride has just earned me £2.10 which I intend to add to my sponsorship along with all such business bike trips in the next 12 months.

Whether in the end it raises £20 or a £100, it’s all additional pennies for the  sponsorship pot and cycling miles for the legs.

Que la suite! (What a result!)
