This is an exciting time for the Community Team at St Elizabeth Hospice. It’s a time of expansion, development and investment in the Hospice Community Team.  We are offering an opportunity to be part of the Community Specialist Palliative Care Team influencing the holistic care of patients and carers with end of life and specialist palliative care needs.  This is a chance to make a real difference to people’s lives.

Are you a Registered Nurse who wants to give the best possible care?   Have you thought about a career in Specialist Palliative Care at St Elizabeth Hospice?

We are looking for an enthusiastic registered nurse who wants to develop their skills and experience within specialist palliative care. There will be an individualised training plan (ITP) to support your progression from generalist to specialist palliative care nurse. The plan will incorporate both practical elements and a programme of academic study; we will develop the plan depending on your previous experience and knowledge (please see hospice website for case study examples as well as ITP’s). You will have the opportunity to join the community team here at the hospice working alongside our specialist palliative care multi-disciplinary team providing planned and reactive/urgent care to patients and their loved ones.

St Elizabeth Hospice improves life for people in east Suffolk living with a progressive or life-limiting illness. Our work is centred on an individual’s needs, which means specialist support, whenever and wherever it is needed, whether at home, in the community or at the hospice. We are well respected and praised for our responsiveness and expertise by people we serve.

Our most recent Care Quality Commission report rated the hospice as “Outstanding”

In return we offer:

  • mirror Agenda for Change with regard to salary, enhancements, annual leave and occupational sick pay (however not reckonable service)
  • personal pension plan (NHS Pensions are transferrable)
  • excellent training opportunities
  • support with revalidation and ongoing CPD through both in-house and external education including an in house palliative care programme
  • experience in working in a 24/7 Specialist Community Team
  • employee assistance programme
  • free parking

Please note that we have a flexible workforce policy which means that employees will be deployed in other areas when there is the need to do so.  This benefits service users and employees.
