St Elizabeth Hospice offers a wide range of services, including an in-patient unit with 18 beds.

The Hospice improves life for people living with a progressive illness. Our work is centred around the individual's needs, providing dedicated palliative care, wherever it is required, whether at home, in the community or at the Hospice.

We help people deal with problems such as pain, other symptoms. anxiety, fatigue etc, as well as offering practical advice and family support. Read more about St Elizabeth Hospice on the About us page.

The Hospice's clinical staff (including senior nurses, CNS, speciality grade doctors and consultants) are available to advise doctors, nurses and other health, social and allied healthcare professionals about general and specialist palliative care issues.

We have also launched St Elizabeth Hospice OneCall, for anyone in Suffolk to use for advice on palliative and supportive care.


Members of the public, patients, relatives, carers, GPs, nurses and other medical professionals and health and social care workers can call and get expert advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

For out of hours referrals to the Hospice, please use the OneCall number. Calls are free from a BT landline, calls from other networks and mobiles may vary. For all non urgent referrals, please complete the online Hospice referral form. A referrer will be informed of the outcome of the referral within two working days of the next referral meeting.

Great Yarmouth and Waveney
St Elizabeth Hospice has been actively seeking to work with other charities and the NHS to develop local services and reach out to more people in the Waveney and Great Yarmouth areas.

St Elizabeth Hospice has merged with Waveney Hospice Care enabling us to to work across a larger geographical area covering Great Yarmouth and Waveney. The day care service at Beccles is now under the management of St Elizabeth Hospice and home care continues to be available in the Waveney area. For access to any of these services, please use our referral form.

St Elizabeth Hospice also won a 12-month contract to provide an out of hours specialist palliative care telephone advice line to NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney from 1st April.
The telephone advice line will provide expert advice about palliative care from clinical nurse specialists and palliative care consultants. The new St Elizabeth Hospice out of hours service will run from 5pm-9am Monday to Sunday and is available to GPs, nurses and other medical professionals, health and social care workers and their patients in Great Yarmouth and Waveney.
The number is 0800 56 70 909 and calls are free from a BT landline.
9am - 5pm Monday to Friday and 10am - 2pm Saturday and Sunday expert advice is available from the specialist palliative care team based at the James Paget University Hospital.
