Walk of Thoughts raises around £5,000
More than one hundred supporters of St Elizabeth Hospice stepped out for a peaceful and reflective walk on Sunday February 21st. They took part in the Hospice’s fundraising Walk of Thoughts, a six mile circular route which started from the picturesque Framlingham Castle at 10am.
People of all ages came from East Suffolk to remember a loved one or just enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Each walker was asked to raise sponsorship and the event raised around £5,000 to help provide St Elizabeth Hospice services for patients and their families. It is the third time the Hospice has organised a walk of this kind, but the first time from Framlingham Castle.
Laura Backhouse, who organised the event, said “The Walk of Thoughts was very well supported and there was a lovely poignant atmosphere as people made their way around the route. It was very cold and wet but walkers were in good spirits and well wrapped up, we even had around 30 more people than we were expecting turn up on the day which was great. The event raised around £5,000 and we are grateful to everyone who took part as well as to those who sponsored them. St Elizabeth Hospice costs around £6 million a year to run and every penny raised at the Walk of Thoughts will help us to provide services free of charge to our patients and support for their families and carers.”
She also thanked the Castle Inn for helping out on the day.
