Fundraise at work

The support of companies is vital to St Elizabeth Hospice and greatly appreciated.

There are many ways an organisation can make a real difference.

Benefits of working in partnership include the opportunity to raise the profile of your company, achieve positive local exposure and motivate staff.

Businesses can help support the work of St Elizabeth Hospice by:

  • naming it as their charity of the year
  • sponsoring or entering a team in one of our many fundraising events
  • providing a gift in kind such as donation of equipment or free consultancy time
  • match giving for any money employees raise
  • establishing a Give As You Earn scheme
  • allowing employees to donate to the Hospice through the payroll giving system
  • having our Hospice collection pots at work on your shop counter or in the canteen
  • setting up a Hospice lottery syndicate

Fundraise at workFor example:

  • In the last financial year Ipswich Building Society and its employees raised £11,937 for the Hospice. Key to the building society's strategy is the promotion of their We-Care account, which allows savers to choose an account which pays out an annual bonus to a choice of three local charities, one of which is St Elizabeth Hospice.
In addition, Ipswich Building Society's branch manager Paul Millar ensures staff are informed of Hospice-organised events they may like to take part in, often as team building exercises and last year had employees taking part in the ladies-only Midnight Walk and the Great Xscape. For more information about the We-Care savings account visit any Ipswich Building Society branch, click here or call 0845 230 8686.
  • Suffolk Life, specialists in Self-Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs), have chosen St Elizabeth Hospice as their charity of the year. Employees from the firm based in Princes Street in Ipswich, recently handed over a cheque to the Hospice after organising two dress down days in aid of the charity.
  • Staff from G4S security organised a charity football match against Shotley Rose Ladies FC raising £300 for the Hospice. The event was held at the Goals centre in Ipswich who kindly donated the pitch free of charge. As well as the match there was also a raffle with prizes kindly donated by local business including Betty's Nightclub, Subway, Degero, Trongs, Baiss &co, K Bar & Grill and Paul Henry.
  • MSC (UK) Ltd have chosen St Elizabeth Hospice as their charity of the year for 2012. They kick-started their fundraising efforts with a launch event where they organised a raffle and cake stall. The company have also signed up to be a Gold Pillar as part of the Hospice’s Pillars of the Community scheme.
  • Daisy Distribution, a mobile distribution company based in Ipswich, organised their very own ‘Bake Off’ to raise money for the Hospice. Eleven members of staff took part, each baking a cake that was given marks for appearance and taste. Sarah and Verity were joint winners and in total £207 was raised for the Hospice. Daisy Distribution are continuing to support the Hospice during 2012 by taking part in various fundraising events including the Alton Water 10k.
  • Car dealership John Grose Group Ltd have made a donation of used computers to the Hospice. Corporate Fundraising Manager Sara White visited the showroom in Ipswich to receive the computers the company no longer needed.
  • Alton Water Run – take on the challenge!
Corporate Fundraising Manager Sara White is taking part in the Alton Water Run on Sunday 13th May and encouraging local businesses to take on the challenge as well by joining the St Elizabeth Hospice team.
A group of colleagues from Daisy Distribution based in Ipswich have already pledged to take part as well as the Hospice’s Director of Income Generation and Marketing Alison Lanchester.
Why not get together with a group of work colleagues and take on either the 10k, 5k or 2k routes. You could set up a group fundraising page on www.justgiving.com and ask people to sponsor your challenge.
Registration opens Wednesday 1st February. Please register on the Alton Water 10k website and then contact Sara on 01473 707035 to let her know you would like to raise sponsorship for the Hospice. We can then provide you with sponsor forms and support your fundraising every step of the way.

As you can see there are a wide variety of ways that you can fundraise and many companies have their own ideas. We would be more than happy to talk to you about this, develop your ideas and support your fundraising efforts.

Donate while you dine

If you own or work at a local restaurant why not sign up for 'Donate while you Dine', an exciting fundraising initiative where restaurants ask for a £1 donation to the Hospice to be added to the bill at the end of the meal. Diners are made aware of the donation by a card that can either be displayed on the table or presented with the bill. The customer is also given the opportunity to donate more, or not to participate at all.
Why should your restaurant participate?

  • It's great for your business. The initiative will attract diners who are socially conscious and are willing to spend money when they know it benefits the Hospice. Also your involvement will demonstrate your willingness to support the local community.
  • Membership of the scheme will provide you with a unique selling point and great PR opportunities too, including support from local press whenever possible.
  • Our Corporate Fundraiser will give you full support and work with you to make a success of this promotion.
  • You can make a real difference to the lives of our patients and their families.
