Tandem skydive

14/04/2012 - 15/04/2012
Where: Beccles Airfield, Suffolk
Experience the adrenaline rush of a lifetime as you jump from a plane two miles above the ground strapped to an instructor.

Free fall at speeds of up to 120mph before your parachute opens and you begin your tranquil descent to the ground. Other dates are available.

You will be asked to pay a £50 registration fee. On the day of the jump, you will be asked to pay a further £150, which is the cost of the jump. We ask that you aim to raise the same amount in sponsorship (£200) for the Hospice.

Nick and his dad skydived in memory of his mother who was supported by the Hospice at Home team.
"Once we got in the plane we were told to sit back and relax for the fifteen minutes it would take to climb, although to be honest it felt about five! As you climb you can't really see what is going on, the first you really see of the height is when the shutter door opens just before you jump.

I didn't have a chance to think about what was happening, one minute we were sitting on the side of the plane then we rolled forward and were free falling at 12,000 feet!
Those first few seconds really do take your breath away, and it was nothing I've ever experienced before and probably won't again.

Once the parachute opens it pulls you up and it's suddenly very quiet and peaceful.
The view was stunning and due to the clear weather we could probably see for between 20 and 30 miles, if not more.

It was an unbelievable and extremely gratifying experience and one that neither of us will forget."
