How are we funded?
St Elizabeth Hospice is an independent charity which provides its services free of charge. To do this it relies heavily on the support and generosity of the East Suffolk community.
It currently costs £6.6 million a year to provide Hospice services - that's £18,000 a day or £13 a minute.
Each year we receive an NHS grant of around £1 million from the Primary Care Trust. That means around £5.5 million has to be generated through fundraising and donations.
There are a variety of ways people help us reach this target, including joining our weekly lottery, visiting one of our 11 Hospice shops, fundraising at home or at work, holding an event, opening their garden to the public or taking part in one of the many sponsored activities organised by our dedicated fundraising team.
Some people decide to leave the Hospice a gift in their will or to start regular giving.
Every day we hear from people who have been touched by our services, and as a result wish to give something back in their own way. This goodwill enables us to carry on caring.
